Key projects driving growth in Saudi Arabia

While most industries import technology from the rest of the world, a raft of iconic Out of Home (OOH) concepts coming from within Saudi Arabia are putting its digital signage innovations on the map:

King Salman International Airport

A masterplan for King Salman International Airport in Riyadh has been announced with an aim to accommodate up to 120 million passengers by 2030. The megaproject is anticipating mammoth signage display installations incorporating video and other custom creative designed to elevate the passenger experience and assist in meeting the country’s top line goal to stimulate transportation, trade and tourism. The airport will span some 57 square kilometres, giving rise to large-scale recreational facilities and retail outlets boasting state-of-the-art display technology and supporting software.

Boulevard Riyadh City

A mass takeover of outdoor LED screens was recently commissioned in hot spots throughout the Saudi Capital to welcome Cristiano Ronaldo, Al Nassr football club’s highest profile new player signed in 2023. High traffic areas including Riyadh Boulevard retail and hospitality district were emblazoned with the words “Hala Ronaldo” alongside the player’s towering image, underlining the prevalence of digital displays and real-time software for big budget advertisers in the country.

NEOM, billed as the first cognitive city, is a $500 billion business and industrial site renowned for its colossal investment in digital signage. Driving superior visitor experience while meeting ambitious sustainability targets, the 26,500 square km zone operates under a mandate to ensure all services and processes are 100 percent fully automated with transactions, procedures, and claims managed strictly via paperless and electronic means.
